When I compose, I’ll work on some section for so long that I can get it in my head that it’s time fora big change but actually it’s not. The time I put in makes the section I wrote seem longer than it actually is. I can see why composers tend to measure things in 8 or 16 ( or 2 or 4) measure chunks to keep proportions correctly. In this case I think my imitation section (which is really exhausting to write) may be coming in to soon. I will cry blood if I have to erase this imitation section but it may be what I have to do. I can’t really tell yet.
This second section is really hard to write. It pushes my mind to it’s limit – that doesn’t happen every day.
